St Jude Children’s Research Hospital
I started as an intern at St Jude this February and I absolutely love it! I never thought that I would be able to have the opportunity to be able to plan events while working for a great Non-profit like St Jude. As an intern, I work in the fundraising and awareness office in Royal Oak. The actual St Jude Hospital is in Memphis Tennessee. My job duties include helping aid other employees in research and planning for fundraisers as well as planning my own events and organizing volunteer efforts for the Detroit Area. I am also becoming a liason for Wayne State for St Jude’s upcoming Walk/Run fundraiser at Wayne State. My goal as a student is to help them gain traction with on campus student organizations. This internship really gave me the opportunity to take control and do things on my own. I really enjoyed my experience with St Jude and I am really looking forward to returning in the fall!
Mort Harris Recreation and Fitness Center
I usually always have an on-campus job for Wayne State considering I live in the dorms. This year I decided to start working for the gym at Wayne State because I really liked the atmosphere and I already work out there anyways. I was pleasantly surprised at how welcoming and fun the staff was to work with. I Instantly felt like I was friends with all of my coworkers. The management as well was very helpful and encouraging and I was really happy with my experience as a front desk assistant. My duties include being the first point of security for the fitness center, providing great customer service to patrons, as well as problem solving.

Now finishing out the semester, I was promoted to Operations Supervisor. I will begin overseeing all employees at the Fitness center and working with the other supervisors to make the gym the best it can be. I am really glad I took this opportunity because I have already learned so much and made so many friends from it.
TwoFoot Creative Wedding Planning
The summer of my freshman year I took an internship with a wedding planning firm that I had shadowed with my senior year of high school. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and I learned a great deal in the few months that I was a part of the TwoFoot team. My job as an intern was to help the event planners manage and set up the event spaces including the ceremonies and receptions. On top of the day-of set up, I was also able to sit in on team meetings where we discussed budgets, vendors and day-of agendas.
